What is included in my fee?
Not only will you have the opportunity to run in the nation’s oldest zoo before it is open to the public, but you will receive a cool t-shirt*, bunny ears* an awesome post event party with food, drink and live music, special appearances and admission to the zoo for the entire day.
Where can I get my results from the 2017 event?
Will there be a pre-package pickup?
Yes! Day of race or Saturday, March 24, 2pm - 5pm at Chester County Running Store, 24 S. High St. West Chester, PA . Please bring a copy of your registration.
Will the event be rain or shine?
Yes, however, if the weather poses a danger for participates the event will be cancelled.
Can I participate in the Philly Rabbit Run but not do the full 5K?
Yes, you can register as a walker, the course is only one mile. Of course, if you feel energized you can walk the full 5K.
Is this run timed?
Yes, it is with chip timing. Chester County Running Store will be timing the event and can be viewed shortly after the event.
What are the categories for medals?
Commemorative award medals to top male and female winners in each age group: 10 & under; 11-15; 16-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70 & over
Is the run actually through the zoo?
Yes, the 5k consists of one lap in the zoo, and one lap around the outside perimeter of the zoo.
Will I see any animals during the morning?
Yes, some animals will be out, weather depending. During the 2015 event the lions and tigers were out in the overhead 360 walkway watching the runners and walkers. Of course, the peacocks are usually roaming around the zoo.
Will the zoo be open to the public during the run/walk?
No, the zoo does not open to the general public until 10:00am. This provides a unique opportunity to be inside the zoo when the animals first wake up and not have the usual large crowds of zoo visitors.
Can my friends and family come and cheer me on?
Yes, but they will need to purchase discounted 'Spectators' admission tickets at Shake It Off's tables. They will receive a wrist band and gain admission to the zoo for the entire day.
How much are the Spectator's ticket?
They will be available for $18. This is a discounted price that the zoo will charge.
Are children under 2 free?
Can I receive a refund in the event I do can't attend?
Sorry, this is a fundraiser for Parkinson's disease and no refunds will be given.
I am a zoo member. Can I get in for free?
Sorry, Zoo memberships do not include admission into private events. This event is a fundraiser and benefits Parkinson's.
Where do I park?
The zoo has parking, however, parking fees do apply for the event. Please check out this link for information on parking, http://www.philadelphiazoo.org/Visit/Directions-Transportation.htm. Both the Tiger Parking Lot and the Parking Garage will be open for the event.
Is there bag check?
Not at this time. However, you will be allowed to exit and re-enter the zoo before and after the event. This allows you to drop things off in your car or to grab things you might need before spending the day walking around the zoo. As our event grows we will look into adding a bag check for people.
Can I push a stroller for the run or walk?
Yes! We just ask that you start behind the competitive runners so that they can have a clear start.
What non-profit does this event benefit?
Shake It Off, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit that creates awareness and funds research for Parkinson's disease. Net proceeds from the run will benefit those with PD. For more information go to www.shakeitoff4pd.org
Can I fun-raise?
Yes, fundraising is encouraged but not mandatory (but you know PD isn't going to cure itself.) It's easy to do. Make a fundraising page on Run Sign Up. If you raise $250 or more, your registration fee on Run Sign Up will be credited back to you. That's a win-win. Also, it is our goal that 100% of the money fundraised will be donated toward Parkinson's research.
